BetterCompany version 1.1.9 Release Notes
To all the animals in the BetterCompany world, gather around the camp fire, a major new release is here.
With this release, we make fundamental changes to how we decide who you interact with in the community. Previously, we would try and match you to others that do similar work to you based on the single input of your job title.
We'd receive pretty much exactly the same amount of complaints about people claiming their feed had been ruined and Twitter-yelling at us because of it (very sad bear face), as much as we'd have people leaving great reviews (we're feeling the love thanks to review from fine folks like jffbrwn, SheSwan and Allthenamesaregone5023), in part because of the diversity of people in their feed.
So for months, we've been working on giving you much more granular control over your feed. Here's how it works: We present you a list of fields. Within these fields, you will find a list of roles. Some roles will show up in multiple fields. When choosing roles, please choose the roles that best match the work that you do most often. Our hope is that this new change gives you a lot greater control over who you connect with on BetterCompany, but this comes at the beautiful randomness that we saw play out from time to time (we're thinking of many great comments from our Hot Tub and Pool Technicians interacting with a wide variety of people in many different types of work).
If you're not seeing enough relevant content or too much irrelevant content, simply access your profile where you can turn off and turn on new roles at any time.)
You can choose as many roles from as many fields as you want. Your job title will still remain the only thing that people see about you on BetterCompany.
This release marks a meaningful turning point on our journey at BetterCompany. This release feels as important to us as our “Cersei” release that we released on January 6th of this year. As always, we're grateful to all of you for your contributions to the community.
