This game has seemingly simple mechanics, roll the dice and hope to get a higher roll than your opponent. This is true for only the very beginning, as soon you get dice with spells that only work when you win the roll, or only work when you lose the roll. You get gear that gives certain fix bonuses, or increases your chance to get better dice, but only when you're below half health. Do you use that d20 now? Or will you need it more later? The game might seem entirely luck based, and to some degree it is, but as it goes on I find myself worrying less and less about getting high rolls, and more and more about knowing when to use what spells and what dice to influence my "luck". At the end of the day, you can choose random attacks and leave it all up to luck, or focus on getting just the right gear and enacting just the right strategy to get a perfect win. A surprising and addictive game, with simple mechanics that have lots of depth. This with it's free to play model that lets you buy extra gems, or just watch a 30 second ad to get bonus gems on top of what you'll be getting in game, means that if I ever spend money on this it'll be because I want to, to support the game, not because I feel like I have to to win.
