In 1968, brothers Norman and Barry Sheffield opened a recording studio in London’s Soho and set into motion a very important part of music history. Trident Studios quickly became a place where creatives flourished, and musical legends descended on it to escape the laboratory mentality of places like Abbey Road. The Beatles recorded ‘Hey Jude’, David Bowie cut ‘Ziggy Stardust’ and ‘Hunky Dory’, and Norman invested in a band called Queen who cut their teeth in the studio all through the night as they set about re-shaping rock music for good. The list is endless. Lou Reed, Elton John, Carly Simon, Peter Gabriel, Joe Cocker, The Rolling Stones, James Taylor, and Dusty Springfield all making iconic recordings that shaped the music we hear today.
We grew out of Trident Studios and the new look you’ll notice about us today is a tribute to our roots, representing the great art that was produced by our forebears. When you tap on our icon and get down to creating, you are joining the ranks of so many greats who did so much for the better. And in a world that today looks uncertain, evolving beyond comprehension, it’s important to remember that great things can still happen if you focus on creating over hating, and that it’s up to you guys to keep moving it forward.
