The dev was sleep deprived. Sleep deprived as a door nail. So it shouldn't have been a surprise when he saw a ghost in the middle of the night that told him he'd be visited by three spirits whose functions would be suspiciously like laying in bed awake thinking about your failures. "Ohhhh, fuuuuuudge," said the dev. Only he didn't say fudge.
The first spirit was the Ghost of Dude, why is the Queue So Messed Up? Itshowed him how the upcoming song count added one instead of subtracting it when over 100 songs were queued, and how it made more sense to be able to add tracks from the history directly to the queue, and that you should be able to clear your history again. Then, the ghost attempted to add the second spirit to the queue but instead disappeared and was immediately replaced by it.
The second spirit was the Ghost of Miscellaneous Errors. It was a big, obnoxious Ghost who sat on a throne of lies behind a table filled with mistakes of every shape and size. He showed the dev how the French and German translations weren't quite right, that users needed a separate button to set star ratings to zero, and a whole cornucopia full of little UI tweaks.
Finally, the dev was visited by the Ghost of Performance Issues. It basically did nothing for long periods of time and then pointed realllly slowwwwly. It showed the dev how unforgivably long the launch times could be, and how the history mechanism was probably burning battery. "No!" cried the dev. "What can I do! Pray, spirit, tell me what I can do to change things!"
And then he woke up and, surprise! It had all happened in one night. So he yelled at a stranger to buy a goose and went and fixed all the problems the spirits had showed him and then he carved the roast beast. And I heard him exclaim, as he rode out of sight, "Happy Holidays to all, leave a review."
