The summer sun may be upon us, but that doesn’t mean the team at TouchBistro has been all patios, parasols, and piña coladas. We’ve been hard at work on the latest version of the app, and it’s a big one, with major new features and many visual improvements.
Barcode Scanning: Have physical goods or drinks in your quick-service venue? You’ll now be able to add items to an order with a scan. Our new barcode scanning feature allows you to tie a barcode to a specific menu item and then scan the barcode to add it to an order—all without any extra hardware, thanks to the iPad’s built-in camera.
Handheld Scanner Support: TouchBistro's barcode scanning feature now supports the iOS Certified Socket CHS 7CI Portable Barcode Scanner.
Cash Management: For venues looking to track cash in the register, TouchBistro now allows you to account for payouts and pay ins with the POS. You can define payout reasons and add the new register button for payouts in the Admin Settings.
Factura Electrónica Support: Mexican restauranteurs can now enable support for Factura Electrónica e-Invoicing in the "Integrations" section of the Admin Settings. This will print a unique identifier at the bottom of each customer receipt. You'll also need to enable the setting through the Cloud Portal at cloud.touchbistro.com, as well.
Refreshed Visual Design: Working more closely with Apple to adopt cleaner designs, we’ve improved the visual contrast of TouchBistro with a new lighter design, new category icons, and other improvements. More will be coming in future releases, too.
Light & Dark Mode: Making the app lighter and more readable is great, but what about venues like bars that are dark? Fear not, bartenders! We’ve introduced a new “Dark Mode” setting which allows each staff member to set interface to light or dark depending on personal preference.
New Integrations: We're in the process of beta testing a pair of new payment and reporting integrations, and our support for PayPal's tableside EMV payment device is now available to all TouchBistro customers.
Bug Fixes: Our 7.2.2 release also includes a number of bug fixes. Thank you for your patience as we continue to improve TouchBistro.
In-App Purchases: In-app purchases have been removed. Licenses can be purchased by contacting TouchBistro. This is consistent with our customer success program and our mission to equip restaurateurs with the tools and knowledge needed to succeed. If you have any questions, please contact your TouchBistro Customer Success representative. Those who have an in-app purchased license will be contacted and automatically upgraded to a normal subscription if desired.
