I waited to play Dragon Quest IV on IOS first before getting this, and overall, that was a better port. However, about 5 hours in, I am pleased so far. First, I'd like to say that people should stop complaining about the lack of voice acting in this version, because it is the Japanese version. It really shouldn't be a factor. Also, the synth sound actually works better for a mobile device in my opinion. This version actually has a couple of advantages over the PS2. First, the skill allocation menu makes it much easier to smartly allocate your skill points when leveling up. In the old version, it was a blind allocation, meaning if you didn't save your points right, you could end up one point away from a skill that could be helpful, and yet have to wait a whole other level to get it. This feature is really helpful. Second, this game is well suited to grinding, and a mobile device makes a great platform to play this sort of game. I will say, however, that those who have complained about the frame rate are right. The slowdown is definitely noticeable, especially if you've played the original. Because of this, I must give it 4 stars. Overall, a good buy.
