I am an older gamer who grew up in the 80's and 90's. Most of my gaming is done on the PC or any one of the many consoles that I own. However, when Thursday rolls around, I enjoy breaking out my phone and checking out what new games the App Store update brings. When I saw GI Joe I just about lost it, then I remembered the GI Joe games of the past and quickly regained my composure.As others have pointed out already, this is basically One Finger Death Punch with a GI Joe skin. I won't go as far as calling it a ripoff because I know most games are based off of others and I also don't know what kind of communication was done between the two developers.The problem with this game isn't that it's a bad game or that it rips off another. The problem is there is nothing in this game that feels like a GI Joe game. You could change the character into Michael Jackson and have him punching and kicking walking bananas and it would play no differently. The reason I gave it four stars is I do like the OFDP formula and enjoy the hectic action a game like that could have (I just hope it's here).I had to wait 30 plus years before I got to play a game worthy of the Batman title in Arkham Asylum and it looks like I will have to wait some more before I find one worthy of the title GI Joe. I believe that day will come, but unfortunately, it isn't today.
